The Carnage continues…
According to the NY Times, the producers of “God of Carnage” announced that Jimmy Smits, Annie Potts, Christine Lahti and Ken Stott would take over the Broadway production of that Yasmina Reza comedy on Nov. 17. Mr. Smits (“L. A. Law,” “NYPD Blue”) will inherit the role of Alan, the cell-phone abusing lawyer currently played by Jeff Daniels; Ms. Potts (“Designing Women,” “Any Day Now”) will play his nauseous wife, Annette, now played by Hope Davis; Ms. Lahti (“Chicago Hope”) will play the art-history author Veronica, the role for which Marcia Gay Harden won a Tony Award; and Mr. Stott will play her volcanic husband, Michael, a role he originated in the show’s London production before passing it on to James Gandolfini. “God of Carnage,” which won the Tony Award for best play, is directed by Matthew Warchus and runs at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater.
