what is cinema society?

Helen Mirren
Helen Mirren discusses her Oscar-winning performance in "The Queen" for SBIFF's Cinema Society.

Founded in 1998 and presented by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF), Cinema Society (CS) gives the community the opportunity to celebrate the art of cinema throughout the year. Presenting an expansive schedule of screenings and special events, this program will foster an appreciation of independent and studio films, motion picture history and the marvelous diversity of world cinema. Many of the filmmakers and celebrity guests will be present to introduce films and participate in post-screening discussions. Please join us as SBIFF brings the community together for an exciting collection of cinematic experiences.

CS members are regularly invited to preview movies that have yet to be released. Last season’s CS was a virtual who’s who of Academy contenders.
