Santa Barbara International Film Festival strongly prefers paperless entries submitted via The International Film Festival Submission System (BrigitFest) on the web at www.withoutabox.com.
Withoutabox provides cost-saving, online entry to major film festivals throughout the U.S. and in Europe with one master entry form, allowing you and us to enter your film more quickly and with greater accuracy. This method is free and easy.
Rules and Regulations for Film Entry:
Entry fee is nonrefundable.
Videocassettes and DVDs will NOT be returned.
Filmmakers will be notified ONLY if accepted into the festival.
Films/videos that have received national U.S. network television (including cable) or theatrical release prior to Festival are not eligible.
For preview purposes, 1/2” VHS (NTSC preferred) or DVD.
VHS cassettes and DVD¹s MUST BE CLEARLY labeled on the spine with film title.
No music videos or commercials.
More than one entry may be submitted. Each must be submitted separately.
Student films must be 20 minutes or less.
The filmmaker will assume shipping costs of material and print to SBIFF.
Titles produced in languages other than English must have legible English subtitles.
The selection committees’ and juries’ decisions are final.
Import declaration statement: All non-U.S. entries must be sent via air mail with the declaration:
For 35mm/16mm films: “Free entry claimed under #724.10 (960.55) U.S. Tariff Act. To be returned following the Festival.”
For videotapes: “Free claimed under #724.12 (960.60) U.S. Tariff Act. To be returned following the Festival.” Entrants must assume all responsibility for clearing films and videotapes through U.S. and foreign customs officials.
SBIFF reserves the right to make any necessary changes in regulations or Festival scheduling.
